Barb's Hair Razor

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Barbara and I want to raise cancer awareness, encourage prevention by early detection and treatment and hoping you will sponsor me to raise funds for local to me Cancer Charities through my HAIR RAZOR event, when I have my hair shaved off on the 2nd of March 2025

* My cancer journey started in October 2024 when I noticed something was different with my right breast. As I looked down on it, I noticed changes in my nipple. I made an appointment to see the doctor and within four days they sent me to what I can only describe as a 'One Stop Breast shop' in Peterborough hospital. They have been absolutely fantastic. You get a two hour appointment. You see a consultant, have mammograms, ultrasound, blood test, and biopsies all done within this two hour appointment. Then the waiting begins for the results.

* I returned some 3 weeks later and on the 11th of the 11th at 11.30 2024 I had a diagnosis of Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer. With a request for an MRI to find the extent followed by biopsies of my lymph nodes told them it had also Metastasis in them. A bone and separate CT scan was ordered to see whether or not it has spread further through my body. Luckily it hadn’t and I celebrated New year with this epic news.

* On the 16th of January I had a mastectomy and lymph node clearance. The good news is that the operation was a success but ....further treatment is required.

* I will be starting chemo very soon and will be loosing my hair. So rather than 'wallow' about it, I am going to shout from the rooftops ... hoping to raise awareness and raise some much-needed funds for local Cancer charities - Woodlands/HCCN in Huntingdon. I am Hoping you will sponsor me to raise funds through my HAIR RAZOR

I also want people to be aware that Cancer is not a taboo subject. That we can talk about and we should be talking about cancer! And while I’m doing that if I can persuade anyone that notices any changes, any differences, on any part of their body, please don't dismiss it. Please please please get it checked out.

I feel those of us with cancer need to stand up and teach others what to look for. My type of cancer is only 15% of all Breast Cancers. It's not a lump ... I didn't feel anything ... I saw changes.

This is not just about me either. This is also a time to remember people that have passed, celebrate people that are survivors and help people like me in the future that will go through their own cancer journey.

I send love to you all.
