Barbies with 'Betes: Getting Diabetes Barbies in Hospitals!
Donation protected
In the U.S. alone, about 304,000 kids and teens live with Type One Diabetes and now, Barbie is living with it too!
Mattel released a Barbie that sports a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) and an insulin pump. This is a remarkable advancement in normalizing diabetes.
Type One Diabetes is typically diagnosed in kids at a young age. I was diagnosed at age 11 and my mom at age 9- peak Barbie ages!
I'm raising money to get these Barbies into local hospitals so that newly diagnosed Type One Diabetics can receive a doll in the hospital and see that diabetes is nothing to be embarrassed by!
Each Barbie costs $11. I want to get as many Barbies into as many hospitals as I can!
I truly believe this will give kids a bit of light after being diagnosed with diabetes. Representation is so important, especially in the early days of being diagnosed. I would greatly appreciate support in helping me ensure that all kids see diabetes as a strength represented in the world!
