Barbie and Her Family's Recovery Fund

Hi, I'm Megan, Barbie's cousin. Late last fall, Barbie was taken to the ER for severe abdominal pain, and they found a mass that they immediately took out. Overnight, this young mom of 3 not only had to adjust to a cancer diagnosis, but also a colostomy bag, and an entirely different outlook on her future. Since last fall, they have found that her cancer had also spread to her liver. Unfortunately, Barbie's cancer isn't even the main concern now. She has an autoimmune disease, which has been devastating. Barbie rapidly lost the ability to use her hands, her voice, and the ability to do any activities of daily living on her own. Her husband, Brad, has continued working when he is able, but that has been difficult with Barbie's many hospital admissions. Her 3 children are 19, 13, and 11, and are trying to adjust to this new way of life, while maintaining school and/or jobs, and are doing ok.

As I'm sure you can imagine, medical bills are rapidly piling up. The mortgage and utilities are up to date I believe. But my aunt has been traveling an hour to/from the hospital every day, along with Brad when he is able, as well. The price of gas and fast food/hospital eating is huge, as we all know.

This family desperately needs help, and on many levels. I'm hoping we can help alleviate at least some of the financial burden, so we've created this page in hopes of doing just that.
