BARBATUS' SURGERY FUND

Hello I'm Nick! My penname is BARBATUS and I'm the writer behind a few horror comics and short stories you may or may not have come across online.

I'm a mid 30s paycheck to paycheck artist/writer/musician and prior 2-year COVID-19 testing frontline worker (not an RN unfortunately). I also live in NYC (which hopefully explains why I'm paycheck to paycheck) and I'm in need of a relatively involved surgical procedure to take care of a problem. I am not sick and the procedure is thankfully nothing life threatening! However it's ultimately necessary for improving my overall quality of life.

This is a procedure I've been putting off due to the lengthy recovery time involved (approximately 1 to 2 months) and cost. Unfortunately time marches on, and the older I get, the more difficult the actual recovery will be!

My surgeon of choice is located outside of the United States, which has lowered cost for me dramatically. I'm also in a position where I have access to paid medical leave from my day job as well as temporary full remote work, so I will not require any monetary support during recovery.

The final hurdle involved is cost - the price is VERY nice but will still take me time to build up to (barring any unforeseen bills), and I'm looking to have this surgery performed as soon as feasibly possible. My ideal timeframe for this procedure is from summer to autumn, so somewhere in the range of June to September 2025. I will also be adjusting the goal on this site down over time as I save up my dollars on my end.

Also the entirety of the funds in this will go towards surgical cost - I will be purchasing my own round trip ticket to the country in question, and I already have lodging and food taken care of.
