Barbara’s Urgent Housing Crisis

Hi folks, my name is Dianna, and I’m trying to raise some funds to help my mom, Barbara Gunkle, out of a very difficult situation. As some of you know, my mom was laid off from her job of 18 years in early 2020. While trying to find a new job, she experienced some very serious health issues last summer. She was finally offered a temporary-to-permanent position, and accepted it as she continued to recover. Unfortunately, a permanent position at that company has not become available, and her contract ended on August 31st.

While she was searching for another new job, my mother’s landlord informed her he was selling the unit she’s been living in, and gave her 30 days to vacate. Now she finds herself needing to move out by September 13th, and unable to afford a new place to live until she’s found a new source of income. Thankfully, a dear family friend has offered my mom a place to stay temporarily while she finds work, but it’s not available until October first. It breaks my heart to not be able to offer her a place to stay, but in my living situation it’s unfortunately out of my hands. We’ve made a deposit for a moving company, as we’re not physically able to execute the move on our own. Any money raised will go to the remaining cost of the movers, storage, healthcare needs, temporary housing, and living expenses for a short time while she gets back on her feet.
