Barbara is exactly the kind of nurse you want on your ward if you're unlucky enough to end up in ICU. She's no-nonsense & precise but under everything she has a heart of gold. Under everything is saying quite a  lot recently, as she's spent the last year in full PPE working a covid ward and saving lives. Until two nights ago, when she came home from her night shift to find her flat had burnt down.


Barbara has lost most of her possessions to fire or smoke damage and without contents insurance is looking at a huge bill to replace what she can. We (a group of Barbara's friends) want to see if we can help her out with that. Obviously there are mementos and keepsakes we can do nothing about but raising enough to replace everyday things like coats, shoes, books, kitchen equipment and her tablet would go a long way to helping her rebuild. We're hoping we can raise £1000 to do this. 

Everytime we've spoken to Barbara over the last days she always leads with how glad she is that no one was home. That no one got hurt. That's how she is. That's the giving attitude that has driven her through this entire pandemic. Her ICU ward has one of the highest survival rates in the country. It's the same ward Boris Johnson recovered in. All she does is give. We think it's time we came together to give back. We're all throwing in here to support her and we hope you can too.
