I am Diane Alexander. I am creating this GoFundMe for my friend, Barbara Williams.
Barbara Williams has been my dear friend for over 20 years.
If there is one word that describes her, it is resilient.
Barbara is a woman of strength, determination, and deep compassion. She has spent her life working hard, thinking independently, and doing everything she could to build a better life—not just for herself, but for others as well. Even when life has been difficult, she has always found a way to move forward.
Today, she is facing the most difficult battle of her life.
Barbara has recently been diagnosed with cancer that has spread to her bones, breast, and lymph nodes. For most people, that diagnosis alone would be overwhelming. But Barbara’s fight doesn’t stop there.
She is also living with multiple serious health conditions, including COPD, fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, arthritis, degenerative bone disease, high blood pressure, and a history of sepsis. Despite all of this, Barbara has continued to work and support herself for as long as she possibly could.
But now, everything has changed.
As her health declines, so has her ability to earn income. Between doctor visits, treatments, and the exhaustion that comes with fighting cancer, Barbara is no longer able to maintain the work that once sustained her. She currently relies on a small Social Security income and limited residual earnings—but it is not enough to meet her basic needs.
And perhaps the most heartbreaking part…
Barbara is facing this battle alone.
She does not have family nearby to care for her or support her through treatment. In fact, her situation at home adds even more stress and danger. Her adult daughter, who struggles with severe mental illness and a history of substance abuse and violence, is currently living in Barbara’s home against her wishes. This has created an unstable and unsafe environment—one that only adds to Barbara’s anxiety at a time when she needs peace, rest, and healing.
Imagine trying to fight cancer…
while feeling unsafe in your own home.
This is Barbara’s reality.
Right now, she needs help covering:
• Basic living expenses
• Medical-related costs
• Medications
• Transportation to and from treatment
Most of all, she needs the support of people who care—people willing to stand beside her during this incredibly difficult time.
Barbara has spent her life pushing forward, no matter the odds.
Now it’s our turn to help carry her.
If you are able to give, any amount will make a difference.
If you are not able to give financially, your prayers and sharing this page are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read Barbara’s story and for being part of the support she so urgently needs.
