In September 2019, Barbara Davis, a mother of 2, grandmother of 10, and beloved teacher for more than 30 years, was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, she enrolled in Medicare on her 65th birthday in July, so we expect her medical expenses will be covered. Unfortunately, her condition makes it impossible for her to continue working in the job she has dedicated more than half of her life to: teaching at a private school in Houston. Barbara is the primary breadwinner in her household, supporting her husband who is disabled, as well as their cat, who refuses to earn her keep.
Barbara's hope is to recover and one day return to teaching. Until that point, the needs for financial support will be significant. We do not yet know how long the road to recovery will be, or where it will lead. She is currently recovering from pneumonia and kidney failure and will have to undergo rehab to gain strength before she can begin treatment for the cancer.
Any funds received will go to supporting Barbara and Larry in their day-to-day needs, including rent, utilities, groceries, Medicare premiums, and incidentals. Stay connected to the CaringBridge site for more information on additional needs for Barbara, Larry, and the rest of their family supporting them in this journey.
Thank you for your prayers and support as Barbara fights the good fight!
