Sun Shade for Tall Pines STEM Academy

Our students love to learn outdoors! We have an amazing campus set on 400 acres of southern pines, open grassy areas, and even a beautiful pond. This allows our teachers to create daily learning opportunities for students that they can take outdoors. The benefits of nature exposure on a daily basis is well documented in regards to the overall physical and mental health of growing adolescents. Whether the lesson is a hands-on application or simply a pleasant setting to read, we strongly support the outdoor classroom. Additionally, our students also have outdoor recess and PE every day. They take a brisk walk a quarter mile to lunch and back each day, rain or shine. Students meet outside every afternoon for car line pick up. They definitely get their daily dose of Vitamin D!

While our students enjoy these unique outdoor opportunities, this also creates exposure to the sun's effects. We want to responsibly protect the healthy skin of our students on a daily basis. We are raising funds for several outdoor permanent covered shelters that our students can find sun relief under during daily car line pick up, on the playground, and under the outdoor basketball court. We appreciate every donation that will go to this endeavor!
