Three weeks ago our mom, Barbara was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenoid Cyctic Carcinoma. This is
one of the rarest of rare kinds of tumors. Only
1,000 of these tumors are diagnosed every year.
The tumor is very large and is growing in her head and creeping towards her brain and base of her
spine.

 My mom started having some symptoms of pain
and a lump behind her ear almost 5 years ago but
too many doctors to count told her it was nothing
to worry about or that she was just getting OLD.  
Finally, she got checked for a case of TMJ that
wouldn’t go away and they found this tumor. An
enormous tumor. This tumor was pressing against her jaw and and it was only then that they
discovered it. 

She was immediately seen at Medical College of  
Georgia and at the world renown Mayo Clinic.
They both told her that there was nothing they
could do-the tumor was too large and trying to
surgically remove it would devastate her face and not likely remove the bulk of the tumor.  Chemo 
and Radiation have little effects on this type of
cancer.  

Then we discovered M.D. Anderson Cancer  
Center in Houston, Texas. What a game changer!  They have more experience with this type of
tumor than any other hospital in the world and
they are on the cutting edge with research and
treatments!  After being at M.D. Anderson for a 
week of non stop appointments, scans, tests, and 
meetings, FIFTY doctors discussed her case and 
have come up with a game plan. 

Here is where the Go Fund Me comes in...she will
have to move to Houston for a minimum of SIX
WEEKS to go through some intense and radical
treatments. The doctors here do not want to 
operate as they feel the surgery would be too
”morbid”.  She will undergo an intense six weeks 
of proton therapy and chemo. She will need to
leave her job temporarily, rent an apartment in
Houston and battle for her life. This will be
expensive and possibly not be completely covered by insurance. We need to help pay
for her stay here and possibly some medical
expenses. 

My mom has been through so much with the death of her youngest daughter a few years ago and now
this. We hope to alleviate some stress and concern
by paying for some of her medical needs. Any little
