Barbara Davilman Memorial Fund for Ellis Weiner

My name is Gillian, and I’m the (step) daughter of Barbara 'Babs' Davilman.

 

If Babs clicked on this very link and saw I was an author of a gofundme she’d call me up right away and say, “Honey? Do you have something to tell me?” Not because she wouldn't agree with it, but because she’d want ALL the details on; how she can help, who can she send it to, and who do we know that could really make it viral (?!) etc. etc. etc. But sadly, she’s not here to help. But I know she'd love what I’m trying to achieve.

 

Our sweet, generous, hilarious, warm Babs died of (unknown origin) cancer in the early morning of Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the age of 63.

 

She fought a lengthy, pain-ridden battle - using grit, sarcasm, grace...and just sheer bravery as she did it. My father tells people, “She didn’t complain. Not once.” She was a force of nature. I’ll spare you the laundry list of things she taught me during my 20+ years of being her daughter, but here’s one. She taught me how to be better at asking for help. “Because if you don’t ask, then you don’t get.” So, as somewhat annoying or depressing or uncomfortable as these things can be - I’m here to do what I promised Babs I’d do.

Take care of my father, Ellis.

 

The last thing I want my dad to be stressed about in the weeks and months to come are hospital bills or finances. Especially as he packs up the home they both loved. So, I’m hoping to raise funds for him as he’s about to face (more) medical/hospital bills and moving costs.
