Support Barbara Sorrells' Burn Recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday, February 8, tragedy struck during the McDonald American Legion charity soup sale. Barbara Sorrells, a dedicated member of the Auxiliary Unit, was carrying a large pot of boiling hot soup when it spilled all over her hands and body.

Barbara was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with third-degree burns on her hands and first- and second-degree burns across the rest of her body. Unfortunately, her burns are so bad that she will need to stay in the hospital for at least two to three weeks to monitor for infection and make sure her skin is healing. She's scheduled for skin debriding on Friday with the possibility of receiving skin grafts as well.

Because of the high cost of care and the fact that these injuries will likely prevent Barbara from returning to her job as a cook/normal life for some time, we would like to help raise funds for Barbara's treatment and recovery. Barbara is a huge contributor to the American Legion's charitable efforts, from soup sales to pancake breakfasts, so now it's our turn to support her.
