Hi my name is Melanie and I want to assist my greatest friend and show support to her while sharing her story of need right now. Those that know her, consider her a selfless, fun, caring, and go beyond friend.
What you don’t know is that 2 months ago her husband, Mike was diagnosed with Stage 3 carcinoma of the lung and is currently being treated aggressively at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale. Sadly, secondary to the daily aggressive treatments he has been unable to work and was terminated. The family has lost its primary income and health insurance for the family was discontinued April 30th. Mike will be carrying COBRA at a cost so he may continue his treatments.
Those of you that know Mike, also have seen his big heart and many also have been fortunate to have seen his skills in action fixing your plumbing! He has a great sense of humor and is looking optimistically at an outcome of being a cancer survivor.
Barb is one of the strongest smartest women I know. Her family has always comes first, Olivia who is successfully finishing her freshman year at UCF and Ella who will be a senior next year, has been a flag football star. The family would never let on that they are struggling.
I have set a $10,000 goal to help them get through these next few months; bills, mortgage, groceries, transportation needs and or any other unexpected expenses. Assistance from anyone that may want to help me set up or take on initiating a meal train would be Fantastic.
I know she would so very grateful and I thank you all for any heartfelt donations you may want to send.
Mike has completed about 3 almost 4 weeks of daily radiation and weekly chemo with some random blood transfusions . He feels mostly well with nausea a few days after chemo. He has lost a bit of weight, but the scan last Friday shows tumor shrinkage.
Prayers and love are needed and any little bit will help these girls and their awesome parents!
