Those of you who know Barb personally know what a strong-willed woman she is. We know she is going to fight like hell to meet her grandbaby who is due to arrive in June and spend as much time as possible with all of her family.
In November of 2020, Barb was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer after going into the doctor to address some back issues and nerve pain. The cancer, which started in her cervix, had metastasized to Barb’s L4 vertebrae before it was ever caught. Barb started to undergo chemo and radiation treatments at the end of November. In mid-February Barb was admitted to the hospital due to dehydration. In the hospital, the amazing medical staff worked tirelessly with Barb to fight the multiple infections and work to strengthen her back in order to get her home. In early March, Barb made the decision to focus on comfort and time with family in hospice care. She moved into House of the Dove Hospice House in Marshfield on Friday, March 12th. The hope is that Barb will be able to eventually move home, with in-home hospice care, so she can continue spending time with family and enjoy time with her new grandbaby who is due to arrive June 27th.
The goal of this fund is to allow Barb, Kurt, Abbey, and Scott to focus on enjoying time together by lessening the stress and burden of pending medical bills. While hospice care is covered by insurance, the facility care daily cost is not. Any financial support you can provide will go towards medical bills, non-insurance covered care facility expenses, and any required additional in-home care expenses.
The family is so grateful for the continued prayers, positive energy, and kind words from Barb's community. Many of you have asked the family to provide support by financial means and I know they are blown away by that sort of offer.
