Banzo's Fight: Overcoming Infection & Multiple Surgeries

Donation protected
Many of you know Banzo: my one year old Italian Greyhound who broke both of his front legs, three weeks apart. Since then, he has had two fracture repair surgeries. His most recent broken leg, the left one, developed a drug resistant infection, which required bandage changes at the vet every 3 days. The vet bills kept stacking up. Now we are 2 months post op, and although his incision has finally healed, we discovered that the infection is now down to the hardware (plate & screws) that are in his bone. The only way to get rid of that infection is to surgically remove the hardware; typically done in “phases”.
Italian Greyhounds have incredibly low bone density, meaning their bones are very thin and fragile. Because of his size and breed, the surgeon would have to slowly remove parts of the hardware to ensure his leg won’t shatter in the process. This will be 3 separate surgeries, 4 weeks apart, for a total of 12 weeks; 3 months of surgical rehab and pain management.
We are estimating around $9,000 for everything. My parents are so graciously footing the bills because I cannot work while Banzo needs around the clock care.
So many of you selflessly donated to Banzo’s original surgery fund, and helped us out significantly, and we couldn’t be more thankful. If you feel so inclined, and are able to, we would appreciate your help. And if not (please do not feel obligated), your support and kind words are just as helpful It has been a rough few months at our household but we are going to keep moving forward. This little guy will be whole again, it just takes time.
