Banstead Woods Memorial Bench for our Heidi

Hello as you all know we are collecting up funds for our memorial bench to remember our lovely Heidi who we sadly lost in February to the big C. We are all in a healing process at the moment. But I promised everyone that once the council was ready we would put together some funds to buy a lovely wooden seat to go into one of the nature walks in Banstead Woods where Heidi and all of us grew up. Our grandad was the green belt ranger in the 60s and 70s for Banstead Woods and surrounding fields and so these woods were like our childhood adventure playground. We would play up there and make cubbies under the big rhododendron bushes and our grandad would smack our hands if we picked any of the spring flowers growing up there. Heidi was actually born living in the residential cottages there of Park Farm Cottages where our grandparent and her mum lived.

Banstead Woods is a big part of our DNA. this is why I have been so adamant to persevere through the closures of offices during covid to push Banstead Council to give us a space up there. That day has come and I now need to gather up what everyone wants to put in even a small bit is fine. And we will keep you all posted as to the progress as it is installed.

We anticipating that the bench in whole fully installed with a memorial plaque is anticipated to be around 1000 GBP (but as I live in Australia I have to run this in AUS $ then change it back to pounds). if we have any funds left over we will of course donate it to the Royal Marsden as Heidi wished.
