Banksy's Spinal Surgery After-Care

Donation protected
Our fierce little "batman", Banksy the Frenchie, suddenly became paralyzed on Sunday night (4/28/19). We rushed him to the ER vet who conducted an MRI which was immediately followed by a 3-hour surgery to remove disc material including; cartilage and blood from the spinal cord. It was all derived from a single ruptured disc in his middle back. The neurologist gave him a 50% chance that he'd walk again after the surgery so, we took our chances. If we did not do the surgery, it would have sealed his fate for permanent paralyzation. Unfortunately, we don't have pet insurance so, we'll be paying for the the MRI and the surgery (totaling $10,910) out of pocket and also through family contributions. We know the road ahead will be a challenge but, if it means more years, months, days and hours with our stubbornly-cute and adorably-naughty boy then, it's all worth it! The next two weeks will be critical. We'll be giving Banksy at-home-care with strict bed rest, all in hopes he'll have full use of his back legs again. The best we can do now is care for and love on him. We also welcome support from others who would like to contribute to Banksy's medical treatment and ongoing care. We are so impressed and appreciative of the amazing vet hospital (PETS of Berkeley), nurses and neurologists (Sage Vet Hospital of Redwood City) that cared for Banksy as if he were their own.

Forever grateful with wet nose kisses,
Jennifer, Shae, Banksy & Riley (our terrier)
