As many of you know, Banks obtained some significant injuries from a ski accident that occurred on Monday at The Sun Valley Resort. He suffered a concussion, five broken ribs, a pneumothorax, and eight stitches in his right leg. He had a tube inserted into his chest on Monday to drain the fluid and air trapped in his chest cavity and spent three days at St Lukes's Hospital in Ketchum. The chest tube was removed yesterday (Wednesday), and he was released from the hospital last night. He is in good spirits and feels grateful that his injuries weren't worse. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to him personally. He is very appreciative of the outpour of support from the community.
He has health insurance, and based on his plan and coverage; our goal is to raise $12,000 to assist him in covering the base, out-of-pocket costs he will incur. From the ambulance transport to the hospital, procedures and care and the three days he spent in the hospital. He would never ask himself, but if you are in a position to contribute, I know he will be incredibly grateful for the financial support during his time as he recovers from his injuries.
Banks Gilberti was a professional skier for eight years and continues to share his passion for skiing and the outdoors with his athletes as the current Head Coach of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Big Mountain Team.
