Dear Friends and Family,
Next month, I will be embarking on an incredible journey to Bangkok, Thailand, alongside nine others from Mercer Creek Church. From June 11th to 21st, we will be on a mission trip, seeking to be led and directed by God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the teachings of Jesus Christ as we serve those whom God loves dearly.
During this time, our ministry will involve evangelism, prayer walks, community engagement, serving those in need, and more. We are going with open hearts, trusting that God will work through us to bless the people we meet.
Over the past two years, I’ve experienced a powerful deepening of my relationship with God—especially through serving in Baja California, Mexico. These mission trips have been truly life-changing, just as my father once promised they would be. I’ve come to see that serving others is one of my spiritual gifts, and I feel called to continue pursuing that path.
This upcoming trip is especially meaningful to me for a personal reason. Bangkok was the last trip my father took before his life was changed forever. In addition, it fulfills one of the final wishes of my wonderful father, Mark Steven Schulz. In the summer of 2023, just days before leaving for a mission trip to Mexico, I was visiting my parents. My dad was battling an aggressive form of brain cancer, and his condition was deteriorating. I was torn about whether to still go.
When I told him I might stay home, he wouldn’t hear of it. With tears in his eyes, he looked at me and said, “Go! This mission trip will change your life.” He shared how his own mission trips had shaped his walk with God and assured me mine would do the same.
That was the last time I saw him healthy. When I returned to see him again in November, the cancer had fully taken over. Two weeks later, he went to be with Jesus.
Fulfilling The Great Commission—as described in Matthew 28:16–20—was his final encouragement to me. It’s the call Jesus gave to His disciples after His resurrection:
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
This mission trip is my way of honoring that call and carrying on my father’s legacy of faith and service.
How You Can Support Me
First and foremost, I ask that you pray for our team. Please pray that we would be faithful ambassadors for Christ, and that our time in Thailand would have an eternal impact on God’s Kingdom.
If you feel led, I would also be grateful for your financial support. The total cost of the trip is $2,240, which covers travel, lodging, meals, and ministry resources. Any amount is deeply appreciated.
If you’d like to give, I’ve created a GoFundMe page which you can access here:
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Your support, encouragement, and prayers mean the world to me.
God bless,
Christopher Mark Schulz
