Ms. Uraiwan "Aunt Khao" Kaeso has devoted her life to rescued animals at Baan Saphan Boon Sanctuary in Bang Saray, Thailand's largest privately operated animal shelters. She has sold her own possessions to keep it running. Her motivation has never been financial. It has always been compassion.
"I could not ignore the suffering of these animals. I simply wanted to help those that had no one else."
Every day, hundreds of kilograms of food are repared, clean wtermsut be avaibable fo evey animal and veteniry car, vaccianitins, midications and strilisation rogams run ocntinosly. keepin the se animals fed, healthy andshelterd cost ove THB 130,00 every month met entirely theough donantoin and personal sacrifice.
Many of the dogs arrived hungry, injured, sick or frightened. Some were abused. Others were simply abandoned when their owners could no longer care for them. At Baan Saphan Boon, every animal is given food, medical care, shelter, and most importantly, a chance to live without fear.
Local volunteers, veterinarians, charitable organisations and government agencies have generously helped over the years — but the need is constant and the costs never stop.
