Meet Bane! Bane is a sweet, resilient 16-18 month old rescue pup who’s already overcome so much in his short life. Bane was rescued from a shelter in NC just one day before he was scheduled to be euthanized, thanks to an incredible working dog rescue down in SC. Bane has bounced between foster homes since then, until finally finding his forever family with me, Loki (my current service dog), and our crew of supportive cats. Bane is now settling into a life full of love and purpose. The hope is that as Loki is transitioning to full retirement this year, Bane will be training to take over as my service dog. If service work turns out not to be the right fit for him, he’ll have the opportunity to contribute in some other kind of public service role, because this boy is smart, eager, and meant to make a difference.

But first, Bane needs urgent dental surgery.

Due to what his vet suspects was prolonged confinement in a wire crate during his early life before the rescue, Bane has suffered significant damage to the enamel on the backs of all four canine teeth. Without prompt treatment, which would include reinforcement or crowns, he’s at risk of losing those teeth and possibly sustaining lasting damage to his jaw if there is nerve involvement.

He's just getting started in life and deserves the chance to grow into a strong, healthy working dog, and to live pain-free.

The goal is to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of his much needed odontic work and associated anesthesia cost. This is a modest assessment of potential cost, as each tooth could cost anywhere from $600-$2000, and we won't know the full extent of the damage until he can be examined under anesthesia. Unfortunately his insurance is considering this to be a preexisting condition and won't be able to help. Every donation, no matter the size, brings Bane closer to a healthier future and the meaningful life he was meant to live.

If you’re able to donate or share, we’re incredibly grateful. Thank you for supporting Bane’s second chance.
