Hi, it’s Jayne here, Bandit’s mum.
Those who know Bandit and myself and have followed our journey would know we’ve battled with separation anxiety and abscesses, requiring management and treatment including training, a parade of house sitters, vet visits and medications. All have been a bit of a financial juggling act the past two years.
Unfortunately, Bandit started developing another abscess on his sweet face a few weeks ago. Antibiotics didn’t work, nor did other treatments. and over the past 72 hours his situation worsened with a lump growing to the size of a small grapefruit and he developed a dangerous fever.
To ensure there wasn’t any foreign object(s) left behind from previous injuries, Bandit had exploratory surgery today to see what was going on. X-rays did not show any foreign object, but they could not rule it out completely. The abscess has been drained and Bandit is now home but requires considerable care and pain management, plus a two week course of antibiotics. Fingers crossed, they got everything.
The surgery costs came to $2170, which is a big shock to my purse at this time. I’m on a fixed support pension and scarce work opportunities other than a few gigs that sometimes pay a little. I just haven’t been able to keep up with pet insurance considering Bandit’s ongoing pet-sitter fees, which are sometimes quite expensive.
So here we are asking our lovely friends to help us out this time. Anything you could spare would be most appreciated . Thank you so much for helping out!
