BANDIT'S FIGHT

Donation protected
We are fundraising for our sweet fur babyboy, Bandit. He is an 8 year old bichon frise x mini poodle. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old and have seen him become the best brother to our son, Asher and mommy's shadow. He's a dog with lots of personality, dance moves and snuggles.

On September 30, 2025 we brought Bandit to the vet as he had been showing signs of lethargy and low energy for a few days. We had a physical exam and bloodwork completed hoping it was just him being stubborn, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case.
Bloodwork results came back with a shockingly low platelet level among other concerns such as white blood cells count, unreadable creatinine, low potassium etc. We were initially recommended to transfer to an emergency hospital for blood transfusion but the quote we received was 10000+ and financially not possible. Further testing was completed to rule out leptosperosis and ultimately confirmed a UTI and lyme disease (despite being cautious and administering nexguard spectra). An ultrasound further confirmed limited kidney function and pancreatitis.

Regular treatment would consist of 24/7 care in hospital but through working with our veterinarian office Bandit was admitted through the day for monitoring, IV and antibiotics to assist with financial restraints. During night he was brought home and required medications and saline flushes hourly. Further symptoms arose of seizures and high blood pressure.

On Thursday, given lack of improvement we planned for our return on Friday and if no progress had been made that a difficult decision was going to have to be made.

Miraculously, on Friday overnight changes were seen in bloodwork and this has given us hope. The best recommendation for treatment continueS to be 24/7 hospitalization but due to finances this has not been feasible. Instead, we have been keeping up with a strict medication schedule and subcutaneous fluids at home.

Everyday has shown some improvements and we are optimistic that Bandit will continue to beat the odds. We have been able to get him to eat some food on his own while also syringe feeding, regular potty breaks and even some more energy to walk and the odd bark.

This Tuesdays checkup we left hopeful. All the staff were so thrilled to see him walking in on his own and bloodwork has shown further improvements indicating that medications are working hard and his body is in overdrive to fight.

However, we are not out of the woods and this journey is likely to be long. To date, we have spent almost $8000 and counting on diagnostics and treatment. Most importantly though, we are doing our best within our means to keep Bandit improving and get back to his boujie self. Every little bit goes a long way for his ongoing treatment and we are so very appreciative. We would be forever grateful to have you join in the fight to keep Bandit strong and stay updated on his progress.
