Hi Animal Lovers,
My name is Stacy with Happy Goat Trading Company. Over the years, many of you have become acquainted with one or more of our goats either from visiting the farm/store, meeting them at an event, or watching our adventures on YouTube.
A few months back I was out with the goats watching them graze and noticed Bandit acting as if he was having trouble urinating. I knew that urinary tract blockages were an emergency and brought Bandit in right away to the closest goat vet, Dr. Harty. She opened her place after hours to take X-rays which confirmed stones were blocking his urethra. Dr. Harty performed a minor surgery at the time to remove the stones blocking the end of the urethra. One of the stones was about the size of a half of a pea. After close observation and being able to pee a full stream, Bandit went home.
A month after that operation, Bandit was showing signs of discomfort again while peeing. I brought him in again to Dr. Harty late at night to get more X-rays which would show he had passed the stones from his urethra.
Another two months had passed and I heard Bandit crying. He was in pain trying to pee and nothing at all was coming out. I drove him up to the large animal hospital at UF in Gainesville under the advice of Dr. Harty. At the facility, Bandit underwent a more complicated surgery removing all stones from his urethra and bladder. This surgery would leave a temporary tube coming out of his abdomen for him to pee from until everything is healed.
I love my animals and know many of you feel the joy watching all their crazy adventures on social media. With the two surgeries and multiple vet visits, it’s left me with bills totaling over $3,000 and I am looking for any help you’re willing to offer. I appreciate your support and love how much my goats mean to others.
