Banding Together for Barry's Recovery

For years, Barry has touched countless lives through his dedication to the craft and art of guitar. He has been more than just a music teacher to so many of us - he is a mentor, a friend, and in so many ways an important part of the cultural and music education worlds in the Pacific Northwest. Whether you've taken lessons from him, seen him perform, or simply been touched by his passion for music and teaching, you know how much he gives to others through his art.

Now, he needs our help.

Beginning in April 2025, Barry will be undergoing total hip replacement surgeries, first on one side, and then later in the year on the other. While these procedures will give him a much better quality of life and enable him to travel to the Dusty Strings Music School without debilitating pain, it also means he will be unable to teach during recovery time for 2-3 months following each surgery, for a total of 4-6 months over the course of the year.

As a self-employed music teacher, this means a complete loss of income while he focuses on healing, and no disability insurance to cover the costs of his post-surgery care.
