“‘In sickness and in health’. That’s one of the vows Barry and I said when we got married. If you know our love story, it’s one for the books and I’ve had many people tell us we should write one. If I did, this would be the hardest chapter…”

These words were typed recently in a Facebook post to let the friends and loved ones of Ami, Barry, Leah, and Landan know that Barry was in the fight of his life. In August Barry was diagnosed with Duodenal adenocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer. He immediately began treatment with surgery and 11 rounds of chemotherapy. In February, as his chemo regimen was coming to an end Ami and Barry received the heartbreaking news that his cancer had spread. After a meeting with a specialist at Mercy Medical in Baltimore, they learned that he was not a candidate for a specialized surgical procedure. Their fight has taken them to MD Anderson in Houston, TX where Barry now awaits testing that we’re hoping will lead to a plan to continue his fight.

Being away from their two children and family is going to be difficult….and costly. We would like to take the financial burden away from Ami and Barry to let them focus on the road ahead.
