The Hoffman Family

Hello everyone! Most of you know me and my husband. We are trying to help one of my husbands best friends family!

This is unfortunately their reality right now. Here is a little bit about their journey.

January 27 at around 3:30 am my fiancée went to the hospital because she was feeling contractions and was in immense amount of pain. By 6 am Nadine was on the way to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Edmonton to deliver our two beautiful twins. At 11:10 little Presley Hoffman-Joseph was born followed by little Kane Hoffman at 11:13. Our first 24 hours were already filled with anxiety and excitement, but on the 2nd night of our babies lives Kane was coughing blood from into his lungs, and had to undergo a blood transfusion. The stress of this procedure caused little baby Kane suffer from Stage 3 Brain hemorrhage, resulting in permanent damage. The doctors say it’s too early to know exactly the extent of the damage cognitively, but he will forever have limited use and mobility on one side of his body. We have had to go through that “hard talk” with the doctor about our options, and of course it’s still a day to day hour by hour battle, but we are confident in medical professionals that are caring for our beautiful kids and are keeping our thoughts/hopes/prayers positive, as this is a long and

Difficult road for our family to navigate. They will be in the Edmonton NICU until they’re expected due on May 13th.

The strain has been incredibly difficult on our family with Nadine having to live in a hotel in Edmonton close to the hospital so she can care for the babies. While I am having to travel back and forth from Camrose to Edmonton to care for our dog Ryder at home and work 40 hours a week. Our almost 2 year old son Wesley has had to live with Nadine’s parents in North Battleford while we care for our babies and try and navigate this difficult situation.
