Hi Friends,
Benny Eckles, Colleen Eckles husband of 42 years, is currently going thru Bladder cancer that has moved to his lungs. The treatment called for 12 sessions of chemo every other week. After the 5th treatment his body could no longer tolerate the chemo and they had to cancel the treatments. Another cat scan was done and the tumors have grown. If the patient fails epically with the chemo they automatically run a test on the tumors for mutations to see what direction they go next. Benny actually has the Mutations in the FGFR3 gene and qualifies for a new drug that was just FDA approved last year. Unfortunately it has a very large out of pocket expense of $36,000 for the treatment. Due to the expense they had to start him on another less effective drug, Keytruda. The drug that he must have to survive is Balversa and has a 40% success rate which is awesome in the cancer world. Time is of the essence and for any success he will need to get on the new drug immediately. The family has applied for grants and assistance from the Pharma mfg and the exclusive distribution company but have been denied and there is no way to fight this decision.
Please Pray for Benny and if you are able to contribute to the Balversa Treatment; the Eckles family would be very grateful!
I said a prayer for you today, that God would touch you with His healing hand and give you the comfort and strength you need to get through Benny and Colleen!!
