On March 22nd a devasting fire broke out in the Balukhali Refugee Camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar which has caused the displacement of an estimated 45,000 refugees. As of March 24th, 2021, 14 people have been confirmed dead with 3 children among them. 560 people are injured and 400 people are still missing as the rescuers are still sifting through the rubble left by the massive fire.

There is an urgent need for funds to help with medical emergencies, rescue work, to build shelter, and provide sustenance for the 45,000 displaced people. 

#BacharLorai has mobilized this fundraiser with our partners on the ground, Uttaran, who have been providing livelihood and support in the Balukhali Camp 9 and had been running two Community Cohesion Centre there. These facilities have been destroyed by the fire, and we are currently focusing on providing the urgent needs – food, shelter, and medical services – for those affected by the deadly incident.

Currently, we are  working to help provide:
Shelter Kit - 10,000 BDT ($120)
House - 50,000 - 55,000 BDT ($650)
Bathing Space for Women (budget yet to be identified)
Non Food Items - 4000 BDT ($50)
