A friend of mine was in a car accident last week and her car is totaled. As a Black woman who was born and raised in Baltimore, she has faced more than her fair share of challenges and kept going, but this is a particularly tough one. Without insurance (as has been said, it's expensive to be poor), she's without a car, which presents more challenges in a city that doesn't have great public transportation. Although it won't make everything better, I'd love to raise enough funds for her to buy another car so it's one less thing she has to worry about.
