Update per Daniel…

Alright guys so some more light has been shed on my cancer. Because it spread to a lymph node near the area I have Non-Seminoma stage 2B testicular cancer. The port will be placed October 3 and then I will start the chemotherapy treatment on October 6. I had two choices I could have done, BEP and EP. The BEP would have been for 3 cycles lasting 9 weeks total and the EP is 4 cycles lasting 12 weeks total. I decided on the EP path for two reasons. The first is the B part of the BEP, Bleomycin, can cause lung damage and could put some patients on oxygen. The second is the way the treatment path works, I would have started with the E, Etoposide, and P, Cisplatin, parts either 3-5 days infusion with those side effects kicking in 48 hours after each infusion, then in the second week I would go for the Bleomycin.

The path I chose, EP 4 cycles, I just do the Etoposide and the Cisplatin that first week and then it is like a “recovery” session the following two weeks until it starts over again and I won’t have to risk lung damage. I will still end up losing all of my hair but oh well it’s just hair, I’m ready to start this and get to going with it, I have already let SRNS know what is going on and they have pushed my start date back. My oncologist did say I could work in the recovery weeks so we will see.

I will tell yall, and especially those that truly know me, I’m not one to ask for help or ask for things because I would rather figure it out myself but I am asking now, I have a GoFundMe page to help raise money for medical costs not covered by insurance, I basically have to cover the 20% insurance doesn’t pay for so any thing helps for sure, shoot just sharing the fundraiser and passing it along helps so much with getting the word out there.

Lastly I truly appreciate all the prayers and thoughts and messages I have received so far I truly appreciate it. I will beat it and you better believe I’m gonna wear every battle scar with pride and I’m getting a tattoo after the treatment to celebrate it (I have some ideas).

Daniel has lived a life that very few young people experience before hitting the age of 30. He has served our great nation while marrying the love of his life to lose her to a horrible disease, CF. His love for life came back once he enrolled in college to graduate as a Bachelor of Computer Science. He landed a job which has really stood by him, pushing him for his dream job. He landed his dream job and is set to start in the very near future. Things were great, then BAM!!! He has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He’s had the surgery to remove the testicule and has been out of work but is due to start chemo and possibly radiation. Meanwhile, bills continue to fall due and the medical expenses will start to pile up. Daniel is so ready to begin his new life he has worked so hard for but now has to grab it by the ball to deal with the obstacle that is before him. I am a very proud Mom who would so love to see my youngin’ have the life he truly deserves. He is so selfless, humble, caring, and bust his butt for everything he does.
