Ballet Folklorico Estrella del Mar

Ballet Folklorico Estrella del Mar is a Mexican Folkloric dance group from St. Mary Star of the Sea School, an elementary school located in the southwest side of Chicago. It was founded in August 2015 by St. Mary parents, Salvador Hernandez, Michaela Hernandez, Cynthia Ramirez, and Jessica Deluna, who formally danced with several well-known folklorico dance groups in Chicago. We started with about 30 kids and have grown to about 64 kids, ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. In addition to encouraging discipline, teamwork, attention to detail, and an appreciation for the arts, the kids learn about their culture through music and dance.

With your generous contribution, you will be helping us acquire costumes and other accessories for the different dances that are needed to put on future shows.  Additionally, with your generous support, we plan to bring cultural workshops to the student dancers from different regions of Mexico.
