As you probably know, I rescued our beautiful boy Benji from the streets of bali when he was 3 months old.
I found him shivering under a tree, severely injured from a dog bite, extremely malnourished, suffering with chronic infection and all alone.
He had no mother, no father, no siblings, no owner and nobody to keep him safe.
He was lucky and got taken in by us and nursed back to health to become the STUNNING pup he is now.
There are thousands of dogs that aren't as lucky as our Benjamin.
You might not know that Bali still has a dog meat trade .
Unfortunately, this means thousands of dogs are killed or kidnapped for their meat. On top of this, there has been a rabies outbreak on the island since 2008. This resulted in THOUSANDS of innocent dogs being slaughtered, poisoned or shot in an attempt to control the outbreak, regardless if they had rabies or not.
Myself and the rescuers over in Bali hear horror stories every day about poisonings, kidnappings, sacrifices, abandoned puppies and dogs that have been run over without a thought in the world.
All they wanted is a safe place to live and some human affection.
Since getting your dog neutered isn't really affordable (or a priority), the majority of the dogs are intact and free to breed as they wish. ACT4Bali dogs regularly pay for 'sterilisation days', where they hire a vet to preform as many sterilisations as possible in one area to prevent a population spike.
They've recently opened their own rescue centre (with their own in-house vet) to house more dogs and help as many rescues as they can - they're already flooded with injured and abandoned dogs.
I'm working to raise money to send to the ONLY rescue team that accepted that poor defenceless pup that I found on the side of the road. They are doing incredible work and need all the support they can to get more dogs off the street and sterilised to help to control the population.
