Dog Sanctuary build, North Bali

For several years, I have been independently rescuing dogs in Bali, and in that time have witnessed more suffering than I ever imagined. Dogs caught in the dog meat trade, abandoned pets left to fend for themselves; confused and alone, newborn litters discarded without their mother, dogs poisoned, dogs battling severe skin conditions, blood parasites and infections. The heartbreak is constant.

An incredible opportunity has arisen to build a sanctuary on a beautiful plot of land, North of Bali, which will be dedicated for dogs in need. A place where vulnerable dogs can finally find safety, care and peace.

The land is situated in the middle of the jungle, and will become a refuge for hundreds of dogs, including many of whom are too traumatised to ever be re-homed and will live out their lives in peace as “lifers”. It is the most perfect, tranquil space for them.
The land belongs to my friend, Jess, who shares this mission wholeheartedly. Jess will continue her work rehoming dogs and helping them to find the loving, forever families they deserve; this is something that she has been very successful with. Jess has already opened her home to so many rescue animals, a few of whom I have had the pleasure of rescuing, and she has always welcomed them with open arms. (Eric, or ‘Derick’ as Jess’ children call him, is currently ruling the roost in her house) Jess and her husband have guided these dogs through deep trauma, patiently helping them heal to the point where they now trust humans again.

I am therefore aiming to raise £5000. These funds will go directly towards essential groundwork for the sanctuary: secure perimeter fencing for the entire plot, creating a proper access path (as the land is currently only reachable by motorbike), a water supply, a kitchen and bamboo shelters / shade for the dogs.
