Bald For Bucks Fundraiser

A year after my mom passed away from breast cancer, I felt that it was important to give back and donate to a foundation or fundraiser that helps people or families during difficult times. This year I have decided to do things a little differently. Cancer has impacted too many local families that I know and this year it touched yet another. Over the past couple of years, I have come to know a family. They are so kind and have been so strong through everything so far. They remind me so much of the relationship that I held with my mom. Despite this family's struggles and fears they always continue to smile and be each other’s rock. The amazing strength that people hold during difficult times is something I admire but sometimes everyone needs a little bit of help. 


When my mom was diagnosed with cancer the chemo she had made her hair fall out. I remember having a conversation with her the day she shaved it and she turned to me and asked “will you shave yours with me?” I said one day I'll stand in solidarity with you but not today.


So to help this local family out I have decided to shave my locks off for cancer!! Today I feel ready. Today I want to show the beauty, strength, and courage that these women have. If I can reach my goal of $800 by May 12th  I will stand with everyone who has lost their hair to cancer treatment. I plan to give 80% of the funds raised to this family to support them and donate the remaining 20% to the London Health Sciences Centre for equipment.
