THE AFRO DESCENDANT CIVIL SOCIETY WANTS SIPHIWE BALEKA TO REPRESENT IT AT THE THIRD SESSION OF THE UN PERMANENT FORUM OF PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT (PFPAD). A Letter Urging PFPAD President Epsy Campbell Bar to Immediately Fulfill the Mandate Given by Civil Society to Request an Advisory Opinion from the International Court of Justice was sent to PFPAD that stated,
“We, therefore, take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to this ICJ initiative and to make absolutely clear that our Brother Siphiwe Baleka of the Balanta B’urassa Society must represent us at the highest level of engagement with the ICJ.”
The Balanta B’urassa History and Genealogy Society in America (BBHAGSIA) launched the Decade of Return Initiative in Guinea Bissau in January of 2020. Since then it has been involved in fundraising and delivering various micro-technical projects in education, sports, food security and agriculture. Currently, our focus has been developing “Right to Return” policy for the Decade of Return Initiative. This includes diplomatic efforts in Guinea Bissau, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Geneva, Switzerland.
Our current priorities are:
1) raising $3,000 by March 18, to send BBHAGSI President Siphiwe Baleka to Geneva Switzerland for the 3rd session of the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent;
2) raising money for the Dafana Institute and its Quebo School project.
The DAFANA INSTITUTE - THE GATEWAY TO AMERICAN ENGLISH IN GUINEA-BISSAU. OUR NEW SITE OPENED IN THE POPULAR BANDIM MARKET NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE CAPITAL CITY OF BISSAU.
