On January 13, 2022, Michael suffered a seizure while at home with his family. He was taken to the hospital only to find out hours later that he has a brain tumor.
The tumor is a grade 2 Oligodendroglioma, and it rests in the area of the brain that affects the right side of his body.
In the beginning, just simply “not knowing” was the most difficult part. But now Michael and his family have a way forward...
With six weeks of targeted radiation (which Michael is currently undergoing at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota) and a year of chemotherapy treatment, doctors believe Michael can get back to doing everything he loves, with the people he loves the most.
But, this isn't going to be an easy road for Michael and his family. Normal has changed for Michael, his wife Caty, daughter Irelyn (2), and son Hudson (6). And though they are there to fight with him the entire way, they've realized they need help from family, friends, and the community at large.
For the time being, Caty has had to stop working to take care of Michael full time. And though Michael's work has been generous, the mounting medical, travel, and miscellaneous bills that come from a diagnosis like this are growing.
We believe the last thing this family needs to be thinking about is how they'll make ends meet. These funds are to ensure aid to Michael's medical needs during such a physically and emotionally difficult time.
Michael and his family are leaning on their faith, family, and friends, as they know they can't do this alone.
By the grace of God, and the generosity of those who know and love them, they will make it through!
“Pray, hope, and don't worry.” -St. Padre Pio (Michaels favorite quote)
