Baking Up Love For Lorene
Life can change in one phone call or one doctor’s visit. Lorene Moore’s (owner of Lorene’s Bakery) life was turned upside down on June 2nd. She worked that day baking and decorating as usual then went to an afternoon doctor’s appointment to be told she had lung cancer. She was admitted to Baptist Hospital the next day and things went downhill fast. She is home and the journey has started as Lorene fights her diagnosis of lung cancer. She is getting radiation 5 days a week in Winston Salem. On Wednesday’s after radiation, she travels to Mt. Airy for chemo treatment. Wow, what dedication and strength a person has to work until they could no longer do it. Lorene persevered as long as she could.
Lorene was passionate and extremely dedicated in her career of baking/cooking and serving her patrons. She has worked hard for 33+ years serving her customers while only closing for holidays and 1 week vacation in the summer. Definitely one of the hardest working and dedicated woman I know. As a self employed business owner, Lorene had to close her business abruptly which rocked her world since this was her source of income. She loved her business and is heartbroken her career came to an end the way it did.
So many people have ask what can I do for Lorene. Traveling and medical expenses quickly add up during this journey along with living expenses. So the family has started this Go Fund Me page for anyone wanting to help Lorene and show their love as she fights this life changing disease. Thank you for all the cards, phone calls, and visits. She has read every card and displayed each one to remind her daily of the love and care from so many friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donation made but especially for all prayers lifted to our faithful and healing God on behalf of Lorene.
