My name is Gloria D. Baker, the founder and CEO of Bakers House Inc. 2020 was certainly a year we would all like to forget, but I am profoundly grateful for the extra time because I have been able to pursue my dream to help disadvantaged young women who have aged out of the foster care system.
My passion to make a difference in this world is what inspired me to launch Bakers House Inc. a non-profit organization that will aid young women between the ages of 18 and 21 who are homeless and have aged out of Delaware’s foster care system but are looking to transition into self-sufficient, responsible adults.
As founder and CEO, I intend to provide a safe place to live and learn for those in desperate need through a stand-alone home that is able to house up to six individuals. Many of these young ladies are at an extreme disadvantage and have various medical and mental health needs. My goal is to assist these individuals to transition into society as self-sufficient, tax paying members of our community.
