We are the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Phi Omicron Chapter. We are located in San Diego, CA.
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on the evening of November 17, 1911 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. The fraternity was founded on the cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift.
The Phi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc was chartered November 1st, 1949. The mission of our chapter is to be the foremost fraternal organization in San Diego in service, professionalism, and brotherhood. We aim to positively impact the community of San Diego through community service and civic duty.
Last year many of you supported our very successful Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway which fed over a hundred families. This year we are asking for support for that again as well as some of our other Social Action Programs
Below we have a list of some of our Social Action Efforts for FY16
Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway - $2000 (100 families @ #20.00)
Each year we look to provide Thanksgiving Dinners for families in need. Last year we fed over 100 families in the San Diego County Area. We have partnered each year with Christian Life Center of San Diego. Bishop Holloway has graciously allowed us to prepare the baskets there and distribute from the church. We have also partnered with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - San Diego Alumnae Chapter (SDAC) and the Grandparent Connections.
Dr. John Arrington Mentoring (JAM) Program - $3500 (Scholarships, Programs, Uniforms, etc...)
The mission of the Dr. JAM Program is to work with males between the 6th and 12th grade in the areas of character development, academic success, cultural awareness, and social service.
The Dr. JAM Program has two major components that are used in conjunction with each other. The first is the monthly educational component. Each month the group gets together and has a session that deals with one of the core principles of the group.
The second component is the group activity component. These events are used to build brotherhood and give the mentees a chance to fellowship with members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. as well as doing community service

Purple & Gold Angel Tree - $1250 (50 kids @ $25.00)
This year the chapter is partnering with Positive FACE to do an Angel Tree program for area foster kids. The goal is to provide gifts for at least 50 kids
Other Projects - $1250
- Talent Hunt: The chapter hosts a talent competition each year for High School Kids. The winner goes on to participate at our District level. Last year our local winner took 3rd Place.
- Essay Contest: The chapter holds an essay competition annually for High School Seniors. The local winners receive book grants and have the opportunity to win up to $5000.00 at the national competition.
- Dr. Charles Drew Blood Drive/Health Awareness Day: The Dr. Drew Blood Drive aims to collect blood for those in need, but also increase awareness of other health related issues to include diabetes, hypertension, and mental health issues.
- Fatherhood Forums: Quarterly the chapter will be doing Fatherhood Forums. These will be setup to have speakers discuss with fathers some of the most important topics impacting fathers today. The goal is to help reduce the number of fathers who are absent (physically and/or emotionally) in their children's life.
- Community Service/Community Support: Aside from our own programs we also support other community services activities. This year on the calendar we will be supporting the following events
- Halloween Carnival - Jackie Robinson YMCA
- Christmas with Character - Jackie Robinson YMCA
- Feeding the Homeless - Urban Angels
- Breast Cancer Awareness - Making Strides
In total we are looking to raise $8000.00 this year to fund the above listed programs. Any bit helps and please spread the word.
We thank you in advance for your generous donations.
