Help Bailey Fight Cancer.
Don protégé
On Friday October 28, I was petting Bailey and I felt a lump on her neck. We went straight to the vet to have him feel it. At first they thought it was her salviary gland that was infected or inflamed. We were given antibiotics and pain meds for 5 days. After the 5 days, we went back to see if the lump was going away. It was getting bigger. We took X-rays and a sample of the lump and sent them away. The X-rays came back as a solid mass growing rapidly and pushing against her windpipe. We have the results back from the sample and it's looking like an Osteoscaroma. Bone cancer. Their not too certain with the slides, but we need more tests!! Now we are preparing to leave to Saskatoon to get a CT scan, ultrasound and X-rays at the university of Saskatchewan Monday morning. Those will tell us more about it and if we can remove it or not. If we can then we schedule surgery ASAP then go from there.
And if it is a tumour and we cant remove it completely we get a life expectancy and we give her the best remaining months or years we could ever give her. We are going to try and do everything that we can to keep our baby girl with us and make her healthy again. We are reaching out to all of you for some help. If you know Mark and I, you know she is our child and we would do anything for her. Anyone who knows Bailey loves her. And they know how sweet, loving and gentle she is.
We do not have human children. We have our dogs. I cannot imagine my life without Bailey in it. We are crushed. She's only 4. She has so long left in her.
Please have us in your thoughts and please pray that Bailey pulls through and has a long happy healthy life!!
If you would like to help us along the way in any way. I have set up this campaign.

Today. We're on our way home. It's been a long week and we didn't get the results we're hoping for.
They took a biopsy yesterday and are going to look at it this week. The tumour is a very aggressive sarcoma and it being in the neck is the worst possible spot for her. It could be bone, muscle or soft tissue, but because it's attached to her vertebrae, their quite sure it's osteo (bone)
We met with the oncology team, they said that it's incurable and she won't make a year. Surgery is an option, but they would only debulk and it will just grow back, and putting her though surgery, recovery then chemo will be too hard on her.
After 4 days, 3 sedations, 1 CT, 8 X-rays, 2 aspirations, a biopsy, blood work and pain meds, were done poking her. We want her to have the most comfortable, fun, and happy last months with us. We tried our hardest, but cancer is evil.
Mark and I are devastated, we're gonna loose our little girl, and we have to wait for it to happen right before our eyes.
We're going home. Where she wants to be. We're going to keep her comfortable, have fun doing her favourite things, eating her favourite foods and treats, play with her sister and snuggling.
We came here to get results, answers and treatment options. We got all of that but were hoping for a better outcome. The people at the University Vet Hospital are all super amazing. The Doctors, The Students, The Surgery team, The Oncology team and the Anesthesiologist, they all took such good care of our baby girl!! They didn't try and talk us into doing anything, they worked with us and grew to love Bailey in the 4 days she was there.
Thanks everyone for caring and supporting us in this time. I'm going to keep this campaign open for another week if anyone decides to lend a hand. We appreciate it.

We have been home for 3 days. Bailey is finally done taking her pain meds (tramadol) from the biopsy. That was 3 days of sleeping from the heavy meds. She is in a better mood today. And that makes us happy!
We went to see our vet today in Winnipeg for a checkup. He said the tumour has doubled in size since he touched it 8 days ago and he can feel it up on her spine now. Bailey also doesn't want to bark anymore either. It's starting to bother her. We knew it was aggressive, but it's far more aggressive that we thought. We were hoping for 6 months to a year with her but, after this morning, I don't think we even have that much time.
The page is still open if you would like to lend a hand and donate to help pay for Baileys trip to the University of Saskatoon Veterinary Hospital.
Hugs and slobbery puppy kisses
Xoxo Bailey, Britt and Mark.
