Bailey’s 2025 Tokyo Marathon supporting Peace Wanko Japan
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
I'm excited to share that I'll be participating as a charity runner in the 2025 Tokyo Marathon on March 2nd. I'll be running to support Peace Wanko ("Peace Winds") Japan, a Hiroshima-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing stray dogs from euthanasia, training them with professional handlers, and finding them loving homes.
I've committed to raising $1,400 USD for this important cause and would greatly appreciate your support in helping me reach this goal!
Since launching the "Peace Wanko" project over a decade ago, Peace Winds Japan has saved more than 6,000 animals from euthanasia. In 2011, Hiroshima Prefecture saw over 8,300 dogs and cats euthanized—the highest number in Japan. Thanks to the efforts of Peace Winds Japan, that number has been reduced to zero since 2016. Their mission to achieve "zero euthanasia" nationwide continues to this day, with a focus on animal welfare, community education, and training rescue and therapy dogs.
This will be my fourth marathon and my third of the six World Marathon Majors. In 2023, I ran the TCS New York City Marathon, raising over $3,000 for the Beagle Freedom Project, and in 2024, I ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, raising over $2,000 for Second City Rescue. I also ran the Vermont City Marathon in 2024, representing my home state!
This will be my first trip to Asia, and I feel honored to go in support of such a meaningful cause. Thank you for considering a donation to Peace Wanko Japan—your support will make a real difference.

Peace Wanko Japan's mission:
"We protect dogs, raise them with love, and find them new homes.
We also work to spread awareness of proper animal care and animal welfare, and cooperate with government agencies, companies, and local communities. We aim to achieve "zero euthanasia" based on animal welfare, which respects the natural way of life of animals. We also work to develop spaces where people and dogs can interact and deepen their bonds, and to train disaster rescue dogs that help save lives, and therapy dogs that entertain the elderly and children."
“Wanko” is the affectionate Japanese term for dog that is similar to the English word “Doggy”.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping me reach my $1,400 fundraising goal. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
