Bailey's Double Knee Surgery

First, thank you so much for taking the time to check out Bailey's campaign. It means the world to us. For those not in the loop, the short story is; on July 4th, 2020, Bailey had an accident while playing (doing zoomies as all dogs do) that caused pretty severe damage to both of her knees. Because of this accident, she has torn the meniscus and ACL (ccl in dogs) in both of her rear legs, which has caused tons of pain and very very limited mobility; my roommate and I have to lift her in and out of a wagon to take her outside to potty, and she can only stand for a few seconds.  She now needs quite expensive surgery on both knees to the tune of $3000 each knee, and she needs it asap, as she is in tons of pain, and the limited movement of her legs are starting to cause atrophy. This price is beyond our means at the moment due to many factors, and although we all hate asking for money from ANYONE, Bailey has always been there for us and we can't let her down. We will be adding updates throughout the whole surgery and recovery journey if any contributors would like them.

For those interested in the long, frustrating story: A year or so ago, we noticed Bailey beginning to limp on her rear left leg. We took her to her primary vet to get her checked and we were told that she "probably tweaked it while playing and not to worry about it." - We gave it a few weeks but noticed that the limping was beginning to get worse. We took her back in and insisted on X-rays, which lead to a diagnosis of Spondylitis; the vet stated Bailey was "her knees and hips look fine, she is probably limping due to a nerve being pinched by a bone spur in her spine", but there was not much to be done about it, and to keep an eye on her and give her Meloxicam once a day for the inflammation. The 4th of July rolls around, and while doing her silly doggy zoomies in the grass, Bailey suddenly paused and collapsed; unable to get back up again. We took her to the vet immediately, where they now told us it was a torn acl, but "because she had spondylitis in her back, we couldn't do anything but conservative therapy with a brace." - Upset, we got her a brace, but after the suggested 6-8 week period that we were supposed to leave the brace on, we began to hear grinding when Bailey would get up to try to stand. We took her to a different vet (a specialist in torn ACLs), and within minutes we were shown Xrays that revealed that due to the misdiagnosis, both her meniscus and acl were completely blown in the left leg first, and since she tried to shift her weight to her right leg, that knee then blew out as well.

Bailey is family to us, and there are no other alternatives in our mind than to get these surgeries. She is trying so hard to act normal while suffering through the pain; she still tries to play with her ball and stuffed puppy, she still tries to comfort us when she sees how sad we get. And she still tries to get up and greet us at the door even though her knees won't allow her to. The surgeon stated that once we gets the surgery, she will heal and be able to run and play like she used to, and that's all we want for her. After everything she has added to our lives, she deserves to be able to stand without pain. We really need the helping hand, and would never dream of creating a Go Fund me unless it was absolutely necessary, and in this case, it very much is in order to give bailey her mobility back. Every single penny will go to these surgeries. We are only asking for the cost of this, not a cent more for anything else. If you have gotten this far, thank you again for considering giving. It has been a very tough few weeks emotionally and physically for us, and this would mean the world to all of us.
