My name is Courtney and I am fundraising for my sister Bailey Tickal and my family.

Bailey was born with Autosomal Polycystic Kidney Disease and has had to fight multiple medical battles since the day she was born. She also has Portal Hypertension caused by Cirrhosis of the Liver. Bailey has had 2 kidney transplants, the most recent in 2013, and was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Kidney Rejection.

The University of Iowa Children’s Hospital has a treatment plan in place and we are hopeful that we can sustain this kidney as long as possible but a third kidney transplant is in her future.

On top of the complications that come along with kidney rejection, Bailey has recently had some scary emergencies relating to her her Portal Hypertension. July 3rd, she started bleeding heavily from her urostomy bag causing her to lose consciousness and to be air lifted to UofI. After controlling the bleeding and sending her home to rest later that week she once again bled out from her urostomy bag.

There are a lot of unknowns with Bailey right now but what I do know is that my parents have given her the most loving and safe environment that they possibly can. While in the process of doing so they have incurred expenses that are difficult to recover from. They have both had to miss weeks of work and one will need to be home with Bailey to ensure she doesn’t bleed out while home alone. On top of the lost wages they have also had gas and hotel expenses and will continue to do so as the doctors try to figure out what the best course of action is for Baileys treatment.

I am looking to help raise as much as I can to help my parents through this difficult time.
