** AN UPDATE ON BAILEY
Bailey Update Bailey went for her CT on Thursday to confirm her hernia and unfortunately shortly after we got a call from her vet informing us that her condition was much worse then what we all believed and Bailey needed her surgery to fix the diaphragmatic hernia right then and there or she wouldn’t have a chance of survival for much longer. Obviously it was a huge shock but I couldn’t even fathom the thought of not doing everything possible to save my girls life so we told them to go ahead. When they opened her up, there was actually 2 giant hernias in her diaphragm causing her entire liver, parts of her intestines and a whole lot of fat and scar tissue to be stuck in her chest cavity. They honestly had no clue how she was still alive. Unfortunately her liver was so severally damage that it loss blood supply and half of her liver was dead and had to be removed. While Bailey pulled through the surgery and has made it past the 72 hour mark she is still no where near being in the clear. She is thankfully home now as she was in critical care the few 48 hours and had to stay at Burlington emergency vet where they took incredible care of her. Bailey had a chest tube in and thankfully before she was discharged home they started to drain negative pressure and they were able to remove the chest tube earlier then anticipated. Bailey is still requiring high levels of pain medication to keep her comfortable and is on a couple antibiotics now but that’s to be expected after such a major operation. As long as she stays stable she doesn’t need to go back to the vet for another 2 weeks to get her blood work rechecked and her 30 staples removed. We are extremely worried still on how her liver will function and of any possible complications such as sepsis due to the toxins released when putting her liver back to where it belongs but it truly is such a huge relief to have my baby back home with us and to see her get excited and wag her tail for all the love. This is going to be an extremely long journey for my girl but she is the strongest dog in the world and she is fighting through it all. Please please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We need her to be okay, especially with how hard she has fought through it all❤️ We are over $10,000 it vet bills now and there’s still tons to come, I hate to ask but please if you can take the time to continue to share Baileys GoFund me it would mean the world to us. I just want to make sure she continues to get the best care possible especially given how far she’s already made it ❤️❤️

Update:

I can’t even begin to express how beyond thankful and grateful I am to all who have donated and shared this gofund me. It means the world to me and Bailey both that so many people care❤️ I do want to give an update on where baileys prognosis lays. Last friday we ended up bringing Bailey down to MOVAH vet in Oakville, to where we thought they would be treating her pneumothorax. While triaging Bailey the vet had to perform her own ultrasound and X-rays before proceeding to tap her chest. Upon further examination they discovered that not only does Bailey still have the pneumothorax but she also has a tramtic diaphragmatic hernia from the blunt force trauma that she endured when being hit. The diaphragm is the muscle that separates your chest cavity from your adominal cavity, with the hernia the diaphragm has weakened causing a hole, allowing her adominal organs fo travel into her chest cavity along with her heart and lungs. From their imagining it appears that baileys liver is currently sitting in her chest, putting additional pressure on her lungs. Because of this they are not able to tap her chest to relive the fluid and air that is trapped as they would then damage her liver. Unfortunately X-rays and ultrasounds are not enough to fully view the extent and severity of her hernia and before any treatment plan can begin Bailey will need a CT. So far we are being quoted $2000-$3000 just for that. As of now Bailey is booked for her CT for Thursday June 12th at Oakpark vet. After the CT is done the only way to treat the hernia if it’s as bad as they believe it to be, is by surgery. That surgery is then estimated to cost between $8000-$10,000. Right now Bailey is at home and is stable and comfortable. She is on complete exercise restriction. No walks or stairs and minimum excitement. Now the situation is very serious and unknown, Bailey could be okay like this for a week, a few weeks or even a month but without surgical intervention the hernia is fatal and can worsen at any moment by any movement. I just want to atleast get the CT so we can get our referral to a specialist so we know 100% certain what is to come and so I know that I have done absolutely everything possible to save my beautiful girl and who knows, if we stay positive there is always a chance that Bailey can prove us wrong and her diagnosis my not be as severe as they assume.

Hi, my name is Alexxa and as much as I hate making this I’m trying to raise any funds possible to help pay for my baby girl baileys medical bills. On May 22, Bailey was hit by a car and while she seemed to be healing well the first couple of days she has developed a pneumothorax in her right lung.
The treatment that she needs would cost between $5000-$7000. It would require her to be hospitalized with a chest-tube to drain all the air out of her lung for atleast 3 days.
Bailey is simply the happiest and most loving dog you will ever meet, she is a neighbour celebrity with all the kids and there’s no one that meets her and doesn’t instantly fall in love with her.
Bailey is my entire world and more, I simply don’t know what I would ever do without my best friend. I will do whatever possible to make her okay and seeing her suffering and in pain if absolutely killing me.
Any little bit helps and I will be enternally grateful for anyone that can help
