Keep the Fight Alive! Support Fit & Fearless
Donation protected
Fit & Fearless has been a life changing asset to the Austin community for over 19 years and is in need of your help moving into our next chapter! We had to close due to the pandemic, but with new ownership, resilience and the will to fight, and your financial support, we can move into our new fight home and resume FULL OPERATIONS! Our commitment to our community endures and we will be supporting everyone in finding their inner warrior in our new space. Please help us raise the funds we need to move into our new home!
Full incentive structure can be found below, but anyone who donates $500 or more will have one of our 18 heavy bag (punching bags) stations named after them with a plaque to show our thanks!
------------
For almost 2 decades, Fit & Fearless has provided members with a safe space to learn life-saving self-defense techniques and reach levels of confidence and empowerment beyond what they thought possible. When COVID-19 hit, F&F closed physical operations for the safety of our members and the health of the community. Pivoting to a virtual-only model was not enough to keep the business operational, and F&F was forced to shut its physical and virtual doors permanently at the end of April and move out. The beloved owners at the time had invested 10 years into the community, but life circumstances and family necessitated that they transition to a new stage of their lives.
BUT...closing down permanently was not an option that many in our community could stomach. If you’ve seen the video posted on this page, you will see why. F&F has been a home to so many people and has empowered lives every single day of its operation. The gym has been the catalyst for so many of our members’ life-changing journeys, including our very own.
Two instructors and one instructor-in-training decided that they refused to let the doors of F&F stay closed permanently and took over the business in early June. We are Amie, Ana, and Amelia (otherwise known as Triple A) and we believe, without a doubt, that F&F is one of Austin’s greatest community assets. Every member of Fit & Fearless is a personal testament to how the gym and Krav Maga change lives.
It’s been difficult to run a gym in a pandemic, but we have some GREAT NEWS to share. We have found a perfect new home that will allow us to provide a safe training space (with plenty of airflow), access to all our beloved equipment and offerings such as our heavy bags (!!!), and the ability for our members to maintain and strengthen their physical and mental health, which is of vital importance in today’s trying times.
Your generous donations will allow us to get in the door due to the substantial upfront cost, and to set up the space, recreating that safe, happy, home away from home space that so many have come to rely on, and that so many more are in need of.
The main mindset of Krav Maga is that once harm is brought onto you, you don’t back down an inch and you keep fighting and doing what you have to do to hopefully get home safely. We train in that mindset every day. Although the threat of the pandemic isn’t like the typical attacker we train for, tapping into that same mindset and mentality has been so vital during this time.
The primary aim of Krav Maga according to its creator, Imi Lichtenfel, and F&F’s mission is…
“To educate and build people mentally, spiritually and physically so that in a time of need one will be able to defend and attack with maximum speed and efficiency. To establish in one a sense of self-worth. To work towards the bringing of hearts and ending violence around the world between all peoples, irrespective of color, race or religion.”
Our hope is to continue to help strengthen our community, especially the women of Austin. Many of the women that come through our doors are not just looking to learn a new skill, but how to survive, or to work through past trauma and reclaim their power. We are very proud that we have been able to offer a free monthly class that hundreds of women have been a part of, in addition to our regular classes. We are also proud to have partnered with SAFE, an amazing group that works with abused women and children, offering discounted training if needed to anyone they send our way.
Thank you for graciously taking the time to consider helping Fit and Fearless stay in the fight.
