BAD VIBES: FUND OUR PARANOID THRILLER\COMEDY TRAILER
Donation protected
Hey! How’s it going! My name is Jordan Fish and I'm a filmmaker based in New York City. I wrote a feature film screenplay with my friend Giovanni Saldarriaga, and I'm asking for your help to create a short 2-3 minute proof-of-concept trailer. The film is about a couple of dirtbag leftists who are trying to save their social outcast friend from being made a patsy by shady operators.
The film is called
BAD VIBES
Drawing inspiration from 70s conspiracy thrillers and 90s slacker comedies—but set in the present day—Bad Vibes is about union organizing, the gray markets for ketamine and abortion pills, and socialism in local politics. It’s about this feeling in your gut and your heart that there’s no possible, conceivable way to get this fucked up system we’re trapped inside on a better path, and yet we still have to keep trying. We have to take action.
FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN
Last year I organized a table read with some friends and it felt like the kickoff of something real, like the movie was screaming out at us that it wanted to exist. Now I’m building a team of some of the most talented and funniest actors I know, and the best film production professionals around. Our goal is to shoot this proof-of-concept film in mid-June, and ultimately to use this achievable, yet highly tangible distillation to attract investors for the full movie.
We want to cut a small slice of the cake with a little bit from every layer on it. We’ll bring the characters and key story moments to life; we’ll shoot footage—real 35mm film!—that will establish the visual grammar, mood, and atmosphere; and we’ll prove the case that comedy and paranoia go together like mango and chili powder. Nota bene: I must have been hungry when I wrote this paragraph.
THE ASK
My original plan was to self-fund this endeavor, but once I started putting numbers into a spreadsheet for a two-day shoot I realized I can’t responsibly do that. There are some corners you can't cut. So for the first time ever, I am making an appeal to my network, and the public at large, for funding support.
Your contributions will go toward equipment rentals, film stock, a professional film crew, talent, locations, transportation, insurance, and all else that an economical, well-planned production requires.
If you’ve ever enjoyed my work and wondered what a feature film from me could be like, or if you've just stumbled upon this project and it sounds like something you’d like to see, this is a thing you can do to help make our dream film a reality.
Also if we reach our funding goal I will blow up* a Cybertruck police car**
*In the fictional story of the film
**through the use of safe and professional VFX.
My sincere thanks just for reading this, and if you can chip in like $50, or any amount whatsoever I will be eternally grateful.
Good Vibes,
Jordan Fish
