Bad things happen, please help in Scott’s recovery

Hi, I am Michelle Livingston and I am raising funds for my Husbands Scott’s recovery from 3 strokes over the last 18. He should have died but he is still here fighting each day. This will help with his medical bills and on going expenses for his recovery.

No one prepares you for catastrophic medical issues. So just to bring you up to date. He had my first stroke on July 30th, 2022 which was somewhat minor and then on August 2nd of 2022 He had a second stroke just 4 days after the first one. This one was a major stroke that killed his right lower brain stem and lost use of the left side of my body. He could not walk or use his left arm he did still had some speech function. He spent the next 28 days in the hospital. He worked hard and made a slow progress and was finally able to come home. If perfect physical condition was a 10 when he left the hospital he was basically a 2 he could function with a lot of help.

The next 7 months was spent with home health. He had physical and occupational therapy and they released him at the end of February to outpatient physical therapy. On the 10 scale again of being perfect he was a 5. So that takes us to May 3rd of 2023 and a 3rd stroke. The MRI showed another one and more damage but in the same areas. The biggest issue was physical mobility and speech. So at that time was about a 6 or 7 and knocked him back to a 3. But he knew what to do and went at it. The Neurologist to this day is shocked that he is still alive.

That brings us to another event that happened on November 5th 2023. When he ended up face down in Rouses parking lot. He refused to let an ambulance be called. His speech was slurred and was sweating like he had just run a 10k and his blood pressure had crashed again. 91 over 56 the Drs were giving instructions on what to do what ever happened had and unless the BP tanked further we had a list of stuff to do over the next few hours on Sunday evening and slowly improved was it another stroke not sure. he chooses to call it an event and thanks to Drs helping him on a Sunday evening and into Monday morning. He should have gone to the hospital but he knew we simply could not afford it so he wouldn’t go.

This brings us to where we are at today. He has not worked for the last 18 months and not sure that he ever will. Besides some physical issues he suffers from severe brain fog. He has applied for disability and the lawyer said that due to Covid approval time is 18 to 24 months. So still waiting on that. He has sold his truck and Michelles little blue car as we had equity in them and also his guns that had collected over the years all gone. IHe has sold anything and everything that wasn’t tied down and don’t absolutely need that is of value to bridge the gap during this time. He feels totally responsible for the mess we are now in after a year and a half. Survivors guilt is my guess.

While there is light at the end of the tunnel, the end of March is not here today. We have maxed out every credit card we have to the tune of $87,000, we have drained our savings and still have another $34,000 in unpaid medical bills even with insurance. I know this will be a huge ask but to bridge the gap for now and we are simply trying to keep a roof over our head and the lights, gas and water on with some food in the pantry. Also keep up his physical therapy and help with his ongoing medical bills. If you could see it in your hearts to help it would be amazing. $500 to $1,000 or even more if you can it would be a God send. Even just $100 or $200 is a huge help. If several help or all adds it up. We have simply run out of cash.

It is staggering how you go from a basically normal life to being so far down in a hole you can’t imagine and don’t want to but it is the reality we face! Thanks for considering helping us!

If you can help thank you in advance and if you can’t that is ok. Somehow God has got this.

Please keep me in your prayers, they are appreciated!

Thanks,
Michelle & Scott Livingston
