Hello and happy wishes to you; family, friends and trusty fan club members of Emily Markle. It’s the Beautiful Brain here… it seems that I have gone off my rocker once again (like how that implies that this is only the 2nd time I have deviated from the healthy, elusive norm?!?), and am recovering from my second stroke. First of all – don’t press the panic button! For the umpteenth time in this fantastical life-o-mine-I have been pulled from the cusp, and back into this gorgeous thing that we call life. Wow-isn’t it a marvel?!? We may as well take a second to say our daily gratitudes together. To promote happiness, I like to pause amid the bustle of life, and speak aloud a list of 10 things that I’m grateful for, in the moment. They change daily, and there’s no rule that says we must stop at 10. Will you join me in saying them today? Our gratitudes can be as simple as things we see in our line of vision and pop to mind or things that we pull from the depth of our souls. OK I’ll start
1. family, and friends –Yep- that’s you! My village is phenomenal and I am so grateful for each and everyone of you. Hugs, smooches and high fives to everyone!
2. Clouds- I managed to get the VIP room here at the hospital and I’m looking out the huge windows at the gorgeous sky donning its picture perfect hues, wispy clouds and soft light.Boy oh boy ; it’s picture perfect!
3. It’s your turn;this gratitude is for you to think of ________________________
4. My faith. I’m just so grateful for God, who has unfailingly lifted me from peril and landed me on my feet( even if only one is currently functional! Hahaha)
5. Yep. It’s your turn again
6. And again
7. Cyndi Lauper… obviously!
8. Chocolate
9. Kindness… it’s the most magical human quality. Can you believe that we have the ability to make actual magic?!? The beautiful Brain is blown.. is yours?
10. Back to you…Finish our gratitudes with a goody!
I even have a dark- Funny kind of story for you… you know how I formerly upended ( nay, fully demolished) Christmas and Halloween by being diagnosed with wildly malignant brain cancer on these celebratory occasions? In 2024 I got totally outrageous, paying tribute to the 1990s , and had a stroke over my birthday week. Yep- totally destroyed that happy birt-day. The trifecta is complete people! Christmas, Halloween and now my birthday. I need to stop being so trendy! The good news? In true
Markle style, I started on my way to recovery, dreaming of sporting dazzling high heel shoes once again and navigating wearing them without falter. As I compose this from a hospital bed, it seems that I walked those shoes straight out of the hospital and into a brick wall. Here’s where you come in. No, I’m not asking you to send me a pair of flat Fluvogs or Flys. I’m resigned to the fact that high heels might be off the table now that I can absolutely never bump my beautiful outer noggin armour again.
FULL STOP
Despite being alone in this hospital room I can hear the unified gasps, as we know that I fall on this noggin daily. I think that by admitting these words out loud, my human, Emily Markle, might just be having a breakdown and case of the water works, so let’s keep quiet about this for as long as possible. Shoes aside, we shall focus on one of my favourite mottos…Hakuna matata. I’m already looking into skull caps, and other adaptive technology to help me as I learn to send the proper signals through my human so that she can learn to walk, use her left arm and “life” to its’ full capacity, once again. This is where you come in. I have started this GoFundMe, on her behalf to help bridge the gap between my old way of being and this new, precarious( and somewhat terrifying) way of life which will require adaptive technology, a different way of movingt, living….functioning as a whole, and will require individualized rehabilitation. If you are able to support my human, Emily Markle, as we navigate these difficult times, please donate to this GoFundMe initiative. Continue to be awesomely you ( you know you are!), and have a beautiful day!
