Hello,
My name is Debra. I’m writing about my sister Angela. Within the last few weeks, her life has been turned upside down by a series of medical tests, diagnoses, and procedures that have devastated her, as well as our entire family.
A few weeks ago she had been complaining of a mysterious pain in her head, which went ignored at first. She pushed for more tests, however, and three MRI exams later, a large tumor was discovered in the right frontal lobe of her brain.
She was sent to a hospital across a lake and in a neighboring state, and frequent travels can add up to a considerable cost on top of other mounting expenses.
My sister has since undergone a right temporal craniology to remove the tumor, and she was just given the full
results of the doctor's biopsy. We listened quietly as our hearts beat anxiously, and the doctor told us that she had a massive glioblastoma. A very aggressive cancer.
When she asked the doctor about the next step, she was told that more tumors may appear, and more surgeries may be required to deal with them. She was also told that life expectancy was about 1 to 1-and-a-half years.
The shock of this news was not enough to numb the heartbreak and fear that washed over us all.
In three weeks, my sister will begin radiation and chemotherapy. She will have to travel everyday for 5 days a week, for 3 weeks. This is only the beginning. Angela is also a diabetic and suffers with atrial fibrillation, which will undoubtedly add to her struggle.
Even now as I sit here writing this, it is so difficult to process the struggle ahead. Angie is my sister, and she is also a good person with a heart of gold. I love her so much, and I can't imagine life without her.
Angela has taken care of so many people, many of whom weren't even family. That's just the kind of person Angie is. Even so while living on social security and taking care of so many, she has always made sure that her mortgage and all her bills are paid.
Angela and I are also co-guardians of our 62-year-old sister Kimmy, who has lived with severe intellectual disabilities for her entire life, along with physical disabilities that have begun to worsen with age. Taking care of her is not always easy, but sending her to a facility is simply not an option for us.
Between Angie's medical expenses, travel expenses to and from another state, and the regular bills that she pays, the financial cost is mounting and becoming overwhelming, in addition to the emotional cost.
Please donate if you can, and share this with anyone you can think of. Any support you have to offer is greatly appreciated by Angie, by me, and by the rest of our family who loves her so, so much.
Thank you.
